Do Pavers Add Value To A Home?

If you are looking at it from a monetary point of view, guess what, you are in luck! Pavers do add monetary value to your home. Of course, this is only the case if your pavers are in good form, but as long as you don’t wait until the very last minute to repair them, you probably won’t have to deal with big money amounts.

Pavers also add the value of aesthetic. Everyone is all about aesthetics nowadays and you know what they say, if you can’t beat ’em’, join ’em’! Of course, pavers might be on a smaller scale, but you get it. Your home is just going to look so much more complete with a paver driveway or walkway. You are not only going to have a great-looking home, but you are going to feel like you have a great-looking home as well!

Another great value that pavers add is the value of convenience. Honestly, it is probably so stressful to walk to your door across all of those rocks and various trip hazards that your yard might have. I twisted my foot the other day on some rocks and let me tell you, it isn’t worth it. A smooth, safe, and aesthetically pleasing paver walkway will make sure that never happens to you, your children, or any of your guests.

Paver Types and Styles

Brick pavers are a great paver idea. While you might not want to get a yellow brick road leading up to your front door, some nice red brick pavers aren’t so bad. They are quite a durable paver type and they are very pretty as they add a nice pop of color to your property. These pavers are something else if you keep them in good shape, so I would suggest getting a seal coat to protect that red color!

The most expensive paver type per square foot and the longest lasting.  Cobblestone pavers can run you $10 to $20 per square foot but hey, they last a century. If you forgot how long that is, let me remind you, it’s one hundred years. That’s right, you heard me, one zero zero; 100. That is a long, long time to have some pavers. So yes, do they cost a small fortune. But they are practically indestructible and they can literally last you a lifetime.

Concrete is a very popular paver type because of its great price point and its ability to be made into cool shapes. You can have squares, rectangles, and even octagons in your yard. A cool tip to remember is that bigger pavers make an area seem smaller while smaller pavers make the area seem bigger. So, if you want your driveway to look smaller than it is, try going with some big concrete paver slabs! Another great thing about concrete pavers is that they can be made to look like brick pavers if regular brick is too expensive for you! Of course, it won’t be brick, but it gets the job done and the idea across.

Asphalt is not a paver, but it can be a paved way for your driveway. Asphalt Paving is a very durable material and it can also melt snow faster than any other paver type. So, if you want a simple yet efficient paved way, get some asphalt. It’s also inexpensive if you were wondering.

Is it Cheaper to Lay Concrete or Pavers?

Concrete would be cheaper to lay initially, that is correct. However, while it might be a cheaper option in the beginning, is it really the option you should be going with? If you don’t mind spending more for keeping your concrete in good shape in the long run, then go for it, you are good to go. Let it be known that I am talking about poured concrete, not concrete pavers. Some people like to have a simple driveway of poured concrete rather than the whole paver thing, but while pavers may cost more in the beginning they cost you less later on. If your concrete gets some cracks or ends up damaged, it’s going to cost a lot more than it would to repair a few loose pavers, you know?

Pavers cost more, that is true, but there is a reason behind it. Pavers go through a much longer process when they are being made and prepared to be installed on your property. There are more than five steps that go into getting your pavers just right, but it is because of these careful and proper steps that the workers can easily fix any issues if they arise. Now, it is important to make sure that you go with a good paver company, otherwise you can end up with some crooked pavers and no one wants that. So, again, while pavers might be more expensive than poured concrete upfront, they are definitely worth it in the end.

Pavers and poured concrete are both good options so it really does just depend on what it is that you want to do with your property. You can even do both and have a paved walkway and a poured concrete driveway.

Why You Should Pave Your Driveway.

Paving your driveway is so important. Parking your car on gravel or dirt is not a good idea. Weather, time, and, of course, use, can make the gravel or the dirt in your driveway form little holes that are dangerous for your car and you. You wouldn’t want to go on your way to work and then accidentally catch your foot in one of these holes. Not only that, but gravel can’t be cleaned all that well so you can expect after a few months and a few rains for your driveway to look dirty. Of course, all this dirt is going to transfer onto your car in time and that is just… not fun. As you can see, a paved driveway is going to make your life so much better. Not only will it look good, but it will be more convenient as well.
